The March 8, 2005 meeting of the Central New York Car Club Association was called to order at 7:04 PM by the President Dennis Connor. Dennis reported that twenty four people had attended the judging seminars. He expects all of them to help with the judging at the International Auto Show Case. There will be seven teams with some spares. Some clubs were hurt by the fact that the show vehicle number is limited by the return to the smaller Center of Progress building. Weather permitting, there will be a cruise in to the show on Saturday and Sunday, with preferred parking in from of the building and plaques and one free show ticket to the first 25 on both Saturday and Sunday. Bob looked into the use of the Horticulture Building as a second venue but it was not feasible.
Dennis introduced Mike Osier of Hot Rod Wiring. He does wiring installation and repairs to all types of vintage vehicles. Phone 315-254-4892.
Bonnie and Mike Turon from the Carol Baldwin Foundation were on hand to speak on the Beach Days event they hold at Gillie Lake Park on Ike Dixon Rd. in Camillus. In the last three and a half years they have given over $600,000 to Upstate Hospital for Cancer research. The event is July 23rd and there is lunch by Wegmans, kid’s games, raffles etc. Dennis would like our presence to continue to grow at this event as it is a very good cause.
The Syracuse Nationals is going back to the old style sticker on the inside of the windshield. Clubs still are getting a free spot in the flea market, but you must register with them in advance. Don’t just show up and expect a free space. The flea market and car corral space will grow this year with the elimination of the wedding parking. This is due to the fact that the Empire room has been rented to provide a buffet meal and preclude a wedding. Club displays will be in the Cargill Building. Register for that with the G M Kruzzers. Vehicles newer than 1979 must be in the building. There may be special stickers for those registered for the building. All vehicles must be registered for the show.
On Wednesday April 13th there is an event at the OnCenter with the Boy Scouts. They are looking for 8-10 cars for a display as Henry Winkler is the guest speaker. Call Dennis at 469-0913. (Newspaper articles on the morning after our meeting announced that he would not be the speaker so the plan appears to have changed. Give Dennis a call if you see this to be back on with a car guy as a speaker. This was included as it is part of the minutes.)
The Treasurer’s report was read and put on file.
Motorcyclists are wanted for the Tuesday May 3rd escort of the Traveling Viet Nam Memorial from Binghamton to Syracuse. Also help is needed building a platform and deck for this ¾ size replica to be on display to the public on May 6-8. Help setting up bleachers, directing parking and reading names in hour shifts is needed also. Call Cliff Canfield at 668-6372.
Dennis, Charlie and Aric went to the annual meeting of car clubs in Gananoque. It was a good meeting and there are many shows and cruises in Eastern Ontario. See our web site and look for the link to 1000 islands Cruise-in for all the details.
The 50/50 was won by our guest Bonnie, who drew her own ticket and promised to donate the money to the Carol Baldwin Foundation. Meeting adjourned 7:50 PM. Minutes are submitted by Aric Penfield, Secretary.
Clubs in attendance: Salt City Vans, Empire Rodmen, Classic Cruisers, No Strings Attached, Right Coast, CNY Buick, CNY PT Owners, Poor Boys, Krusing Knights, CNY MOPAR, GM Kruzzers, Outcasts, Dream Machines, MG Car Club, Syracuse Shelby Mustangs, Syracuse Hot Rod Assoc., Manlius Antique & Classic.

The schedule has gone to the printer on 3/14/05. If there are future changes we can change the original that will appear all year on the web site. It should be up there in a day or two.
